Wishfulfilling Jewel with Tsog

What is Wishfulfilling Jewel? An inspiring prayer practice to develop our wisdom, compassion and spiritual protection for the benefit of all living beings.

Wishfulfilling Jewel is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism. In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. This prepares our mind for a twenty-minute meditation on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. After the meditation we make prayers to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations.

Foundation Program

Mondays | 6:30 – 8:30pm

What is the Foundation Program?

The Foundation Program is an in-depth course designed to provide the ideal, structured conditions that result in deeper understanding and meditative experience of Buddha’s teachings on attaining happiness and enlightenment.

The classes are a dynamic mix of study, reflection, discussion, and meditation, and emphasizes the practical application of Buddhist wisdom to daily life to make authentic spiritual progress.

Current Book for Foundation Program

We are studying Joyful Path of Good Fortune: The Path to the Supreme Happiness of Enlightenment.

We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do at every stage of our spiritual journey.

With this book, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practiced, enriching his explanation with stories and analogies. A perfect guidebook to the Buddhist Path.

What we need is not displays of miracle powers but a clear example of how to enter an unmistaken spiritual path, how to practice that path comfortably and smoothly, and how to complete it successfully. This is the actual method for solving our daily problems.

Offering to the Spiritual Guide | Community Party

Followed by a community party

Offering to the Spiritual Guide is a special Guru yoga of Je Tsongkhapa in conjunction with Highest Yoga Tantra. The main practice is relying upon the Spiritual Guide, but it also includes all the essential practices of the stages of the path (Lamrim) and training the mind (Lojong), as well as both the generation and completion stages of Highest Yoga Tantra. Bring a non-alcoholic beverage, fruit, veggie snack, cookies, chocolate, flowers or candle as an offering if you wish. You can also volunteer to set up, engage during or support wrapping up. Please email Kathy at info@meditation-indianapolis.org

WHAT is a PUJA

We combine pure motivation, correct imagination, and receive blessings in engaging in puja. Puja. What does that mean? Pujas are special methods for generating positive states of mind to help us make progress on our path to permanent peace and happiness. During pujas we recite prayers and requests both verbally and mentally. Buddhist prayers are often referred to as ‘sadhanas’, which translates to ritual prayers for spiritual attainments. Regular puja practice is a method for attaining realizations on our spiritual path and is powerful when practiced in a group setting.
