Welcome to the website of Kadampa Meditation Center Indianapolis ("KMC Indy," "we," "us," or "our"). By visiting meditation-indianapolis.org (the "Website"), creating an account, registering for a class or event, purchasing a membership or product, or making a donation, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

1. About Us

KMC Indy is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union. We offer meditation classes, retreats, and events based on Buddha's teachings, both in person and online.

2. Use of the Website

You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use of the Website. You agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, other accounts, or our systems

  • Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code

  • Use automated tools to scrape or collect data from the Website

  • Submit false, misleading, or abusive content, including in prayer requests or contact forms

We may suspend or restrict access to the Website at any time without notice.

3. Accounts

Some features, such as membership and class registration, require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity under your account. Please notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. You agree to provide accurate and current information.

4. Classes, Retreats, and Events

  • Drop-in classes and events. Schedules, teachers, and locations are subject to change or cancellation. We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered participants.

  • Registration. Registering for a class, retreat, or event is subject to availability. Some events may have separate terms, fees, or requirements, which will be shown at registration.

  • Online classes. Online access is for your personal use only. You may not record, share, rebroadcast, or distribute live or recorded online classes without our written permission.

  • Conduct. We ask all participants to treat others, teachers, and the Center with respect. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave, or to remove someone from a class, event, or online session, if their behavior disrupts others.

  • Children. Children attending Kids Club or any other class must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian unless we have stated otherwise for a specific program. Parents and guardians are responsible for their children's conduct.

5. Memberships

  • Fees and billing. Membership fees are shown at the time of purchase. By purchasing a membership, you authorize us to charge your chosen payment method. Memberships that renew automatically will continue until canceled.

  • Cancellation. You may cancel a recurring membership at any time through your account or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

  • Refunds. Except where required by law, membership payments are non-refundable.

  • Introductory offers. Introductory memberships (for example, the 30-day unlimited membership for new students) are limited to new participants and may be limited to one per person.

  • Changes. We may change membership levels, benefits, or prices. We will give notice of any change that affects an active membership.

6. Donations

KMC Indy is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are used to support our mission and operations, and are applied wherever they are needed most at the time. This applies even when a donor mentions a specific purpose or project. We will consider a donor's wishes, but we cannot guarantee that a donation will be used for that purpose, as the Center may need to direct funds to a more urgent need. Donations are non-refundable. If you need a receipt for tax purposes, please contact us at info@meditation-indianapolis.org. We recommend consulting your tax advisor regarding deductibility.

7. Bookstore and Product Purchases

If you purchase books or other items through our in house bookstore or through the Website:

  • Prices and availability may change without notice, and we may correct pricing errors.

  • Orders are subject to acceptance by us.

8. Payments

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. By submitting payment information, you confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method. Please see our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

9. Prayer Requests and Submitted Content

If you submit a prayer request, message, or other content through the Website, you confirm that you have the right to share it. You grant us permission to use it as needed to respond to your request, including sharing it with our Resident Teacher and community for the purpose of dedicating prayers, unless you tell us otherwise. We will not publish your name publicly without your permission.

10. Newsletter and Communications

If you sign up for our newsletter or provide your phone number, you agree to receive communications from us about classes, events, and Center news. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message, or by contacting us. For text messages, reply STOP to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.

11. Intellectual Property

The Website and its content, including text, graphics, logos, images, audio, video, and downloads, are owned by or licensed to KMC Indy, Kadampa Buddhism organizations, or their respective authors and are protected by copyright and other laws. Teachings, books, and prayers are the copyrighted works of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche and Tharpa Publications, as applicable. You may view and download content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or publicly display any content without our written permission.

12. Health and Wellbeing Disclaimer

Meditation classes and retreats are offered for spiritual and personal development. They are not medical, psychological, or therapeutic treatment and are not a substitute for professional care. If you have a medical or mental health condition, please consult a qualified professional before participating. You participate in all activities at your own discretion and risk. If you are in crisis, please call 911.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

The Website may link to or use third-party websites and services, such as payment processors, social media platforms, podcasts, and video platforms. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third parties. Your use of those services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Website will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that information on it, including class schedules, is always complete or current.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KMC Indy and its directors, officers, teachers, staff, and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Website, participation in classes or events, or purchase of any product or membership. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Website or our services will not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KMC Indy and its directors, officers, teachers, staff, and volunteers from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Website.
